I have a relatively rare porcelain doll in my possession. It's from Seymour Mann's Connoisseur Doll Collection. It's not in a case, but is in pretty excellent condition. It's on it's original stand and has it's original tags. The tag says "This edition is limited to 7500 dolls. After this edition is sold out, the only way to acquire a doll from this edition will be from a collector willing to sell at a price the market dictates." I'm not sure how old the doll is exactly, perhaps 20 years.
Where can I sell this doll? How do I figure out how much this doll is actually worth?
I don't think you'll have any luck selling it without the box. They don't do too well on Ebay. There's a whole page of ended auction with only one sale - 3 dolls for $25.00.

There are porcelain dolls being sold at a toy and gift shops here in my place, but well, they're affordable..
But don't porcelain dolls cost much? What makes those other dolls expensive?
I want to start collecting soon, but I plan to get one from that gift shop because I already fell in love with 3 dolls from it :)
I like my dolls (I own baby dolls) to be beside me or should I place them in one cabinet or something? But the fun wouldn't be there if I do that. (
How do I know the right porcelain ones? I mean, what place?
There are 'strict rules' if you want to 'collect' as an investment. If you want to collect porcelain dolls because you love dolls, then you can put them where you want them, and can even take them out of their boxes for display. I find the current 'rules' on 'collecting' strictly for investment a bit 'weird' ... I have several collections, of turtles (including the 'turtles' from the streets that they put there to wake people when they cross the lines), hedgehogs, and Eeyores (the donkey in Winnie the Pooh) ... and NONE of them will be of any 'value' after I die, because I LOVE THEM and have them out where I can touch and hold them when I want to. If my kids or grandkids want them to 'remember me by' that's fine ... I have a 'ceramic candy dish' that is a large turtle that my late mother-in-law gave me on her 80th birthday ... that is my 'pride and joy' and all I want when I die is for someone who really wants it to have it. I'm 'weird' about my 'collections' I suppose ... but what is the 'fun' of having a collection you can't 'touch' anyway? So ... they'll be YOUR dolls, and you may do what you want to with them ... but you can't say they are an 'investment' in anything but YOUR HAPPINESS ... and THAT IS WHAT COUNTS MOST to me, and probably to you. So, collect away ... and be happy and get the dolls you LOVE and not the 'good investments' ... you'll be happier, and that is more valuable than the 'resale price' of your dolls.
