What's the name for the postage stamp that's used to make up the value difference of the old stamps?
For example, I have 6 old stamps left and I need to put another stamp along with each one to have enough postage on the envelope to total 44 cents. What is the name for that additional stamp?

I recently came across a substantial collection of stamps in my attic, many of which look to be quite old and beautiful. Where can I go to learn if these stamps of any monetary value?
Duh... go find an old stamp collector, buy a book or check the Internet.
