does anyone know of any forums or websites offering information on antique and rare books? (perhaps like a search engine style website for books, or preferably a forum)

What is considered 'antique' when it comes to books?
I have some 1st edition books and I'm uncertain how old they have to be to be called antiques. Anyone familiar with antique books?
Books are usually rated another way. Most books wanted by collectors are first editions. Rarity depends on the content and author. Condition also is important. Old Encyclopedias, geography and other text books generally have little value. Exception, the early readers such as Dick and Jane and McGuffey's have value. Local histories over 50 years old, early dime novels and old comic books may have value. Many early children's "Little Golden" books have value. For example, "Little Black Sambo" because it was stereotypical was often destroyed by blacks and now commands a high price. You may go to the library and find information on your particular book. Another possibility is log on to eBay and see if your book is there or is bringing any bids. A Collector's book called "Old Books" is another good resource.
